Caroline Felix E-RYT 200, RYT 500
Caroline is the owner of Shine Yoga and enjoys her time at the studio as an instructor and a student. During her study under Ursula Cox at the Inner Power Yoga 200hr Teacher Training, she cultivated a deeper love and respect for the ancient practice and its continual physical and mental benefits. In 2016, Caroline completed the 500 hour "Life of a Yogi" training with Sri Dharma Mittra in New York City and is honored to share what she learned under his direct instruction. Caroline believes that yoga should be accessible to all and strives to create a diverse yoga space through creative instructors and various classes. It is a true joy for her to share this passion with others.
Tiffany’s classes are inspired by her teachers, her students, her practice, and the natural movement of the people and world around her. She views yoga as an artistic discipline which gives us the opportunity to explore and experience our full potential. Tiffany combines ten years of ballet training with over 1,000 hours of yoga and massage studies to guide students from pose to pose in a safe, creative, and challenging manner. She asks that students find the courage to step outside of their comfort zones and be open to their own possibilities.
Amy Gwinner E-RYT 200, RYT 500
Amy received her 200 hour yoga certification through Shiva Rea’s Prana Flow teacher training program in 2010. In 2016, Amy completed her 500 hour certification at Beloved Yoga. Amy’s love for yoga has shown her peace, love, balance, and a strong foundation to grow from. She believes yoga is a vehicle for change and growth. A way to create space within ourselves to find our strength, beauty, and abundance through the union of breath, body, and mind.
Rachel did her first stretching on the soccer field and track. After years of hard-impact sports, she found yoga and discovered the physical, mental and spiritual benefits from slowing down her mind and body on the mat. She still likes a good run, but cannot do it without yoga! Rachel loves guiding students as they find balance, grace and healing on their mat. When not health coaching, you can find Rachel on a dirt trail in the Appalachian foothills or in the kitchen testing out new recipes with her husband Jeff.
Angela has recently moved to the Winchester area to pursue her passion of becoming a physician assistant. She received her 200 hour certification through CorePower Yoga in Georgetown, Washington DC. Before Angela found yoga, she played field hockey for the DIII National Championship team at Salisbury University. As a collegiate athlete, Angela likes to bring athleticism and endurance to her classes. She teaches powerful and dynamic flows set to energizing music. Join her for happy hour yoga on Friday nights!
Gina Byrd was born and raised outside of Boston, and completed her Fluid Yoga Teacher Training at Stil Studio in Dedham, Massachusetts. A life long dancer, Gina was looking to transition out of performing and fell in love with the practice of yoga. She opened her own studio, Yoga at the Field House, in the mountains of Maine before moving to Virginia in 2013. Gina's dynamic Vinyasa Flow classes focus on alignment, breath and meditation. As a mother to 2 young sons, Gina is also passionate about teaching yoga to children.
Kate Powell, founder of Wild Sacred Journey (www.wildsacredjourney.com; https://www.facebook.com/katepowell.wildsacredjourney/), struggled with disconnection, depression, and body image issues for years before turning to yoga, where she learned to balance fiery discipline and whole-hearted surrender on her journey back to herself. Around that same time, Kate fell into working on small, sustainable farms, the physicality of which reconnected her to the natural world and her body. Her journey deepened further when she completed her yoga teacher training in 2013 and has since logged over 1,000 hours of teaching group classes, privates, workshops, and retreats. A graduate of WhiteWinds-FeatherStone Institutes’ 470hr Integrative Energetic Medicine and Coaching program, Kate has done the deep work herself that allows her to be a strong, compassionate presence for students and clients and gives her a wide range of tools to guide those she works with back into embodying their truth, trust, vulnerability, and playful, sacred Love. She is passionate about transformation and possibility and enjoys reading, creating, being outdoors, good food, and good conversations and can always be counted on to blurt out awkwardly and earnestly heart-felt things in a world that teaches us to keep those close to the chest.
Shannon's (RYT-200) love for yoga began in 2011 as an escape from stress and an alternative form of exercise after an ankle injury. Over the years, it morphed into something much more, as she grew to love the peace and serenity that she found on her mat. Driven to share this post-yoga bliss with the people around her, Shannon chose to complete her 200-hour vinyasa training with Tiffany Coombs, When not on her mat, Shannon can be found teaching 8th grade Social Studies, hiking, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. Join Shannon for a practice that will challenge your body, calm your mind, and bring balance to your life.
Adriana (RYT-200, MSEd) first discovered Vinyasa Yoga after she gave birth to her son, Jaxon. The creative union of breath, body, and mind gave her the nourishment she craved and the peace she needed to become her best self in a dynamic time. Adriana’s desire to teach is rooted in the belief (and personal experience) that breath and movement can help us find our inner strength and clarity so we can discover balance in our busy lives. Adriana’s passion for holistic health also extends into pregnancy and childbirth. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to study yoga and is delighted to provide safe, comforting space to learn from her current and future students.
Andrea practices yoga because she loves it. And because of all those times she read about the physical asanas just being the tip of the iceberg - well it was actually true. Yoga has not only given her upper body strenth for the first time in her life, but has changed her way of lookng at and interacting with the universe. She completed her 200hr certification here at Shine with Tiffany Coombs. When not at the yoga studio, she makes a living as a teacher, and can be found with her nose in a book, backpacking around other countries, salsa dancing, hiking or napping in the most unlikely of places. Carolyn was born and raised in Baltimore, Md . She moved to Winchester to run a clinic for migrant farmworkers (a Long time ago) . A Physician Assistant for over thirty years, she has a deep understanding of the physical body and the need for balance in the body, mind, and spirit for authentic health. Carolyn first came to Yoga (with Caroline Felix ) to improve strength and flexibility. Quickly, she recognized the deeper inner practice that truly is “Yoga”. In 2015, she completed her 200 hour teacher training with Tiffany Combs. Carolyn has been a practicing Reiki Master since 2010, completing multiple trainings since that time. In 2017, she completed the Holy Fire II Karuna® Reiki Master training with William Rand (ICRT) in the U.K.This powerful experience of healing and grace ignited her passion for sharing this practice on an all new level. In addition to group Yoga classes, she offers Reiki Circles, and private Reiki/Yoga sessions .She is passionate about teaching others the healing practice of Yoga and Reiki -it makes EVERYTHING easier! In Fall 2017, she joined the first group of National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaches . Carolyn brings an intentional blend of challenge, ease, rhythm, and deep relaxation to her Yoga classes which always include Reiki, an Extended Savasana, and lots of LOVE!
Jackson came to yoga in 2014 by way of health coach Rachel Dollard. He came seeking a way to lose weight and to relieve stress. He had been interested in exploring yoga for quite some time, but insecurity and fear prevented him from actually trying it out. In February 2016, Jackson received his 200 hour RYT Certification from Buddha Cat, Tiffany Coombs. It is Jackson's wish to make yoga fun and accessible to all, and particularly to welcome those who are interested but nervous or unsure of where to start. He encourages laughing, dancing, singing, and not taking ourselves so seriously while in class. When not at the studio, Jackson can be found managing a veterinary hospital, cross stitching, fighting for the rights of trans identified people and other marginalized groups, or making Harry Potter references.
Nici found yoga in 2013 after realizing that exercises recommended for low back pain looked an awfully lot like yoga. A friend convinced her to try a class with Caroline Felix at Shine and she was immediately hooked! Always an athlete at heart and subscriber to the “no pain, no gain” mentality; yoga brought a new aspect to her life and she quickly found herself drawn to the studio for its physical, emotional, and mental benefits. While she enjoys cross-training, yoga remains a constant and a necessity. As a physician assistant for over 10 years, she sees the value in yoga as an alternative and complementary therapy for countless medical issues. She completed her 200 hour vinyasa teacher training with Tiffany Coombs of Buddha Cat Yoga in February, 2016. She is also very interested in other styles of yoga and completed a Level 1 Yin Yoga Teacher Training under Carole Westerman in May, 2016.
Brooke’s (RYT-200, M.Sc.) yoga journey started a decade ago in much the same way as many others - for health, for coping, for connection and perspective, and for all of the intangibles only practicing can deliver. For all of these reasons, Brooke decided to complete her 200 hour Teacher Training with Tiffany Coombs, and has been delighted to join the wonderful community at Shine. Brooke strives to create a lighthearted, warm, and trustworthy environment, with a focus on inspiring confidence and passion for the practice while ensuring accessibility and ease. Amy Hope-Gentry E-RYT 200, YACEP
Amy's quest to harmonize body, mind, and spirit led her to begin her personal practice of yoga almost 13 years ago. For Amy, yoga is about inner changes and awareness. The heightened awareness she experiences through practice is what continues to draw her closer to her mat. She loves both a strenuous physical practice and time to sit and ‘be’. Her passion is to share the positive effects yoga has had upon her life in hopes of continuing that positive effect among others. Stephanie McKinley LCSW RYT200
Stephanie has just moved to Winchester after spending the last year camping the US with her 9 year old daughter and is excited to share her yoga with you!! Stephanie was first introduced to yoga in her early teens and has practiced off and on since then. She was drawn into the practice by the asanas and quickly realized the healing benefits for her emotional and spiritual life. Stephanie became “busy” with a career in mental health, dedicating her time to creating a healing experience for individuals who experienced trauma in their lives. After finding a love for competitive CrossFit and building an in depth knowledge base of body mechanics and movement patterns she felt it was time to slow life down; a new dream was born. Stephanie saw the space to incorporate her 15 years of work in the mental health field with her love of movement in her yoga teaching and practice. She completed her 200 hour teacher training with Dashama Konah, founder of the Pranashama Yoga Institute, during a 30 day intensive in Bali and wants to continue her life’s passion to be of service to others and inspire living a life of bliss.

Ciara has been practicing yoga since 2009. She truly appreciates the physical and mental benefits that she feels from her consistent yoga practice. She has found relief from anxiety, and has increased her strength and flexibility. In order to share the gift of yoga with others, Ciara attended the Buddha Cat 200 hour Vinyasa Teacher Training at Shine Yoga in Winchester, VA. Ciara is passionate about helping students find the many benefits for the mind, body and spirit when combining breath with movement.
Carinne Smoot RYT 200
Carinne first practiced yoga during her college years at Virginia Tech. Since then she has practiced on and off at different studios and at home. Now as an avid weightlifter and runner she found the need for something else to help aid in recovery. Not only did adding yoga back into her life help with that but It also improved her flexibility, mobility and helped calm her mind. By completing her 200 hour teacher training at Shine Yoga with Caroline Felix and Amy Gwinner in March 2018, she can’t wait to share with others how yoga can help heal the body and mind.
